A motorcyclist who was hit by a car at a junction has secured damages for the injuries he suffered.
The 78-year-old man was riding his bike when a car failed to stop at a give way sign and pulled out in front of him. He braked and tried to swerve around the front of the car but it carried on moving forward, colliding with him and throwing him from his bike.
Although he was wearing a helmet, he suffered multiple injuries including a fractured thumb, fractured ribs, damage to his lower back, knee and feet, and psychological injuries. The driver of the car was subsequently prosecuted for driving without due care and attention.
After the motorcyclist obtained legal advice and brought a compensation claim, a substantial five-figure settlement was reached. His compensation will help to fund his ongoing rehabilitation and care needs.
